Dr. S. Premalatha

Dr. S. Premalatha, born on 31st July 1941, is one of the senior professors of Dermatology. Did her UG and PG Dermatology studies at Madras Medical College, Chennai.

Completed 33 years of Tamil Nadu Govt Medical Service.

Served nearly half of her career as Asst Professor at the Skin Department of Madras Medical College (1969 - 1986).

Worked in Saudi Arabia as Dermatologist on Govt deputation for one year (1986 - 1987).

Posted on Promotion as ‘Civil Surgeon Skin Specialist’ at the Department of Skin, STD, Leprosy and Infectious Diseases in Govt Head Quarters Hospital at Cuddalore. South Arcot District, Tamil Nadu. (1987- 1989).

Research

PhD on 'Palmar dermatoglyphics in genodermatoses' and awarded PhD in 1982 from Madras University.

Underwent Training for one week at Tamil Nadu Fingerprint Bureau with special permission from the Government of Tamil Nadu to learn the proper technique for taking the palm and fingerprints and later their qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Given a guest lecture ‘An Analytical study of 40 cases of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis’ at IADVL Conference in Gulbarga in1992 based on my brief research at Abha , KSA which was an endemic area for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis.
